We, Soviet Writers,
Wholeheartedly salute
The faithful guardian of the Revolution--
The Chief Directorate of Political Administration--
And call on the Government to award the OGPU
The Order of Lenin.
We shall devote our creativity
To the service of the proletarian revolution!
We shall fight ceaselessly
Against the agents of the bourgeoisie!
On the literary and art front,
We shall rip off the masks of class enemies!
Death to counterrevolutionaries and wreckers
(The Literary Gazette, 11/20/1930)
